2025-2026 IDSA Priorities & Agenda
The government has recognised the ongoing requirement to examine new and innovative means of improving capabilities in the security and defence domain to enable the Defence Organisation to undertake the roles assigned by government.
As the recognised National Defence Industry Association for Ireland, IDSA has highlighted a number of obstacles and opportunities which the government should address to facilitate its ambitions. The defence industry ecosystem comprises large companies, SMEs, start-ups, knowledge providers, research institutes and universities.
IDSA Correspondence: An Tánaiste and Minister for Defence & Trade
In April 2025, the Irish Defence and Security Association (IDSA) issued correspondence to An Tánaiste Simon Harris T.D. and Minister for Defence and Trade, in its capacity as the recognised National Defence Industry Association for Ireland, representing the Irish security and defence-related sector.
The correspondence outlines a number of key obstacles and opportunities which the government may wish to address in support of Ireland’s national security and wider economic ambitions. Given recent announcements of urgency for higher levels of Irish and European defence spend as well as Irish announcements surrounding expedited procurement, IDSA recommends that a number of priorities receive urgent attention, as set out in the below letter.
